Roofers who are interested in roofing jobs need to start out in training.  There are various options for this training, including being an apprentice to another roofer, technical schooling or learning the trade of roofing by yourself.  Whichever option you chose, you need to make sure you are well versed in not only asphalt shingle roofing, but the many other varieties of roofing as well.  In order to stay in business as an independent roofer, or become a valued employee for a contractor, make sure you stay up to date on all the specifics of different types of roofs.

Being an independent roofer can be one of the scariest times of your life.  Not having anyone else to depend upon can be hard, and even dangerous if you do not know what you are doing.  However, by being your own roofer, you can save thousands of dollars in additional labor costs, and ultimately provide your customers with a lower cost service which will keep the number of roofing jobs you have  high.  Providing professional service will allow you to keep receiving large numbers of roofing jobs, all at no additional cost to you.

While providing professional, low cost service to your customers is how to keep your jobs coming in, you may not know where to find jobs when you are first starting out.  One of the best places you can look for local roofing jobs is Craigslist or another local classified ads website.  However, there are other places that are a good idea to check for roofing jobs.  Posting a flyer at a local hardware store can garner some business, and telling your neighbors might get you a job or two as well!
